MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – Families who do not have health insurance or under-insured are getting an affordable price for lung screenings.
On Tuesday, Nov. 28, Piedmont Macon Medical Center’s Radiology Department and Cancer Center are partnering with Radiology Associates of Macon to offer affordable low-dose CT lung screenings, which will cost those without insurance a total of $155. People with insurance are asked to file the screening on their insurance plan.
Screenings are recommended if:
- You are between the ages of 50 and 80.
- You have a smoking history of at least 20 “pack-years.” This is calculated by the number of packs smoked per day multiplied by the number of years smoking. If, for example, you smoked a pack a day for 20 years, that would equal 20 pack-years.
- You are a current smoker or have quit within the last 15 years.
To schedule an appointment for the low-dose CT lung screening offered at Piedmont Macon later this month, call 478.765.4805. If you have other risk factors or concerns, call the number to discuss whether a screening would be beneficial to you. The screenings will be at Piedmont Macon Medical Center, 330 Hospital Drive, Building C, Suite 120.
