MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – One person is dead after a fatal crash on interstate 16 west Saturday morning.
UPDATE: Paul James Evans turned himself in at 11am on 1/16/25 at the Bibb LEC. He faces charges of Homicide by Vehicle in the 2nd Degree, and Failure to Maintain Lane.
The crash happened at 1:49am on Interstate 16 West, east of Exit 6, Ocmulgee East Boulevard. Bibb County deputies say a 22 year-old male driver of Senoia, Georgia, was travelling east on Interstate 16 West in a Chevrolet Silverado utility truck when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a Ford 150 from the rear that was in the emergency lane.
The driver of the Ford F-150, 37 year old John Patrick Pace of Soperton, Georgia was pronounced dead on scene by Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley. An autopsy is being scheduled for the victim.
This collision is still under investigation. Anyone with information in reference to this collision is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 and ask to speak with a Fatality Investigator.
