MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a head on collision that left one person dead and several in the hospital early Thursday morning.
The crash happened around 5:00am on Mercer University Drive near Grosso Avenue. According to reports, a Dodge Durango and a Hyundai Elantra collided on Mercer University Drive east of Edwards Avenue. The Dodge Durango was driven by a 51 year old man and a 37 year old man was driving the Hyundai Elantra with a 29 year old female passenger and 9 year old boy. The driver of the Elantra died at the hospital. His name has not been released yet. The others remain in critical condition.
The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 and ask to speak with a Fatality Investigator.
