MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – On April 1, 2025, Atrium Health Navicent Crescent House, in partnership with the community, planted a pinwheel garden at Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital to raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month. The display symbolizes hope and the commitment to protecting children from abuse. “Children deserve safety and support for healthy development,” said Crescent House Director Kemberlie Sanderson. “Raising awareness is crucial in preventing child abuse in Central Georgia.” Georgia ranks 38th in child well-being, with 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 13 boys experiencing abuse.
Crescent House, the region’s children’s advocacy center, provides critical care, including forensic interviews, medical evaluations, and advocacy services. Recent expansions in therapy and the addition of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners in the hospital’s 24/7 pediatric emergency room enhance care for affected children. “As the only facility offering round-the-clock pediatric support in Central and South Georgia, we are committed to child-centered care,” said Diana Sutton, chief nursing officer.
