MACON, GA (KBTV) – The Bibb County School District is excited to offer free CTAE Summer Camps for middle and high school students!
These hands-on camps will focus on Film, Style, and Technology, giving students a chance to explore their creativity and learn new skills — all at no cost.
Jumpstart for Academic and Career Readiness
Are you interested in a way to boost the skills your student needs to succeed, aligned with the Georgia Common Core Standards (focused on Reading, Writing, and Mathematics)? Excited to Engineer!
Are you a middle school student with a curiosity about math and science? Imagine spending a week immersed in the world of engineering, where you get to experiment with hands-on projects and learn about engineering tools and design challenges. This camp is designed to help students develop essential skills like critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving, all while igniting a passion for exploring the unknown. By engaging with engineering professionals, conducting experiments, and exploring STEM-related topics, students will gain a deeper understanding of what a career in engineering entails.

Camp Imagine
This interactive camp aims to inform students about the study of television and radio media. Students will examine, interpret, and study the highest standards of broadcast media, including radio, television, sales, and promotion.

Podcasters in the Making
This interactive camp will expose students to exploring the nuts and bolts of what it takes to make a podcast—from ideation and creating memorable audio logos to scripting, recording, and editing. All week long, participants will learn from experts (storytellers, producers, sound engineers, and kids and family podcasters) and learn their tricks of the trade. They will also create and record short audio gems as they lay the foundation for making their own podcasts. Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiments in podcasting and collaborate with their learning community. .

Braids and Style

Imagine spending a week immersed in the world of hair, where you get to experiment with products and styles, learning to maintain your healthy tresses. This camp is designed to help students develop essential skills, all while igniting a passion for cosmetology. By engaging with haircare professionals, conducting experiments, and exploring style-related topics, students will gain a deeper understanding of what a career in cosmetology entails.

Ready, Set, Action
Students will work with professionals in the field of film and video production. Campers will produce, direct, light, shoot and edit like the experts as they make their own movies. Students will learn the art of visual storytelling.

Hot Dogs and Hard Hats
Students will participate in building experiences under the supervision of qualified construction personnel, learning core principles of the industry. This one-day camp offers hands-on activities, construction site visits and the opportunity to gain knowledge and ask questions.

Course Requirements:
- Closed-toed shoes
- Long pants
- No tank tops or shirts with fringes
- An oath to listen to and follow ALL directions
