Holiday Closures Announced for Macon-Bibb County Offices, Changes to Trash Pickup

MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – Macon-Bibb County officials have announced office closures and service schedule changes in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

County offices will be closed on Wednesday, December 24, and Thursday, December 25, for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Offices will also be closed on Wednesday, December 31, and Thursday, January 1, in observance of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The closures include City Hall, local courthouses, and the Tax Commissioner’s Office. Emergency services will continue to operate as normal during the holidays.

Trash and Recycling Collection

Ryland will not collect trash or yard waste on Thursday, December 25. Collection will shift one day later beginning that week:

  • Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday collections will remain unchanged
  • Thursday collections will move to Friday
  • Friday collections will move to Saturday

Ryland will also suspend trash and recycling collection on Thursday, January 1, with pickup again shifting one day later following the same adjusted schedule.

Convenience Center Hours

The 11th Street Convenience Center will be open for a half day on Wednesday, December 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The center will be closed on Thursday, December 25, and will reopen on Friday, December 26. It will also be closed on Thursday, January 1.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead for holiday closures and adjusted service schedules.
