Ryland worker dies after being hit by trash truck in Macon

MACON, Georgia (KBTV) -A Saturday morning accident on Hartley Avenue turned deadly after a Ryland worker was hit by a reversing Ryland vehicle.

Bibb deputies were called to the intersection of Hartley Avenue and Ridge Avenue around 10:14 a.m. after reports of a person hit by a vehicle. Investigators say a 2022 Mack Terrapro truck was backing up when it hit 45-year-old Chad Williams, who was behind the vehicle.

Paramedics rushed to the scene and provided emergency care before taking Williams to a local hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was later pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation, and authorities say no charges have been filed at this time. Coroner Leon Jones has confirmed that Williams was employed by Ryland at the time of the accident.
