MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – A man is behind bars after he attempted to rob a convenience store on Tuesday.
Bibb deputies say 17 year Jovan Tyrek Blackshear was attempting to gamble on a machine inside of Mercer Food Mart when a store employee asked Blackshear to show ID. Blackshear then pulled out a gun and demanded money from the register. The employee locked himself behind a protective plexiglass counter. Blackshear ran out of the store.
Deputies later located him in the 1600 block of N. Atwood Drive. A toy gun that was used in the armed robbery attempt was recovered.
Blackshear was taken to the Bibb LEC and is being held without bond. He’s charged with armed robbery.
