Traffic stop leads to arrest for drugs and gun possession

MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – A man was arrested for drugs, gun possession and warrants after he was pulled over during a traffic stop on Tuesday.

Bibb deputies say around 3:00p.m., they noticed a car without a licensed plate near Wilmar drive. The driver, 26-year-old Brandon Matthew Tyler was pulled over. During the traffic stop, deputies learned that the car was uninsured and had no valid registration. In addition, deputies ran Tyler’s information through the Georgia Crime Information Center (G.C.I.C), which showed he had 3 active bench warrants.

The bench warrants were connected to 2019 homicide investigation. Tyler was arrested in June 2019 and released out on bond as of January 2020. On April 21, 2021, Tyler was indicted on the charges of Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm by First Offender. Bench warrants were issued for these charges.

Bibb deputies say during the traffic stop, they also found 1 pound of marijuana and a loaded firearm. Tyler was arrested for the three bench warrants and the charges of Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Felonies, and Possession of a Firearm by First Offender. He also had a Probation Violation-Felony. No bond has been set.
