MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – A woman is dead after a fatal shooting Thursday morning in Macon.
UPDATE 6/16/21: Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators issued and served an additional warrant for (feticide- voluntary manslaughter of an unborn child), on Jeremiah Wayne Waller Jr. An autopsy revealed Patricia Gamboa was pregnant.
UPDATE: The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Patricia Gamboa.
39-year-old Jeremiah Wayne Waller Jr. is charged with murder. Waller also had an outstanding warrant for the charge of Theft by Receiving Stolen Property- Felony. More charges are pending. He has no bond. The gun that was recovered at the scene is not related to this incident but is at the crime lab.
The shooting happened in the 1200 block of Appling Court around 9:30am. According to Bibb deputies, it was reported a woman was shot by a male inside a van as she was leaving a residence on Appling Court. Several other people were inside the van as they attempted to take her to Atrium Health Navicent. One of the passengers called 911 and reported the exact location as she was being taken to the hospital. The van was located on Gray Highway, just north of the I-16 bridge when Bibb Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies and Paramedics arrived at the scene. The woman died from her injuries.
Patrol deputies went to Appling Court and arrested the possible shooter and found a handgun. The shooter and van passengers were taken to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division to be interviewed.
