MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened early Saturday morning.
The incident happened in the 3600 block of Dawn Street at 05:24 a.m. Bibb deputies say 31-year-old Anthony Benard Burke had gone to his ex-girlfriend resident and bust a window and kicked in the front door. Then, he got into a physical altercation with her. During the fight the ex-girlfriend’s sister’s boyfriend tried to stop the fight. That’s when the males got into a physical altercation. During the altercation, Burke was shot while struggling over a gun. Burke was pronounced deceased on scene.
Burke had active warrants for Battery and Criminal Damage to Property related to a prior incident with his ex-girlfriend at the Dawn Street address. No charges have been filed at this time.
