MACON, Georgia (KBTV)- Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop Thursday night on Mulberry Street after a driver seemed to be impaired.
After calling for back-up, the Bibb County Sheriff’s HEAT Units arrived, and deputies began a field sobriety test on the driver. The passenger of the vehicle, 28-year-old Nicolson Simon, jumped into the driver’s side of the vehicle and drove off.
After leading deputies on a chase, Simon lost control of the vehicle and crashed. He began to then lead them on a brief foot pursuit and was later caught. Simon was checked by EMT’s and taken to Atrium Health Navient to be treated for any injuries.
Simon was then taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center where he and the original driver, 23-year-old Jasmine Janvier, are currently in custody.
Simon is being charged with (DUI) Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Willful Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officers, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer (Felony), Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, (2) Traffic Offences, and Giving a False Name, Address, or Birthdate to a Law Enforcement Officer. Simon was also wanted for (2) unrelated warrants, one of the warrants is out of Baldwin County and the other out of Florida. He currently does not have a bond.
Janvier is being charged with a (DUI) Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and has a bond in the amount of $1,850.00.
