HOUSTON COUNTY, Georgia (KBTV)- The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) recently released the 2021 high school graduation rates. Houston County’s 2021 graduation rate is 88.8 percent, that’s 5.1 percentage points higher than the state’s rate of 83.7 percent.
“The graduation rate for our district consistently outperforms the state average, and this is something our entire community can celebrate. This achievement highlights the important work happening in our classrooms as we work to produce high- achieving students.” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Scott said.
A total of 1,882 students in Houston County graduated in 2021. The four-year cohort graduation rates are provided by school: Houston County High School 95.7%, Northside High School 80.9%, Perry High School 90.4% ,Veterans High School 95.2%, and Warner Robins High School 88.6%.
Georgia calculates a four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate as required by federal law. The calculation is based on the number of students who graduate within four years of high school and does not include students who take more than four years to graduate. The four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate is based on when a student first becomes a freshman, using the number of students who graduate within four years and adjusted for student transfers.
Since the four-year cohort graduation formula was implemented in 2011, the district’s rate has increased by 15.6 percentage points, from 73.2 percent.
