MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition after a house fire in Macon on Thursday night.
The house fire happened just before 12:00am in the 4000 block of Houston Avenue. When Bibb deputies and firefighters arrived on scene, the house was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters removed multiple people from the residence. A 49-year-old female and a 42-year-old male were taken to Atrium Health Navicent for treatment. The female, 49-year-old Mellisa Welham was pronounced dead at the hospital. The male victim, 42-year-old Jerry Gilleland is listed in critical condition at this time.
The incident remains under investigation.
