MACON, Georgia (KBTV)- The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Fatal Traffic Collision that occurred on January 18, 2022. The incident took place on Riley Avenue at Ridge Avenue.
The incident involved two vehicles, a 2001 Ford Taurus and a 2015 Hyundai Accent. 37-year-old Shineka Hughes, the driver of the Hyundai Accent, was transported to the Atrium Health Navicent by ambulance. On January 19, 2022, Hughes passed away while being treated for her injuries. According to the Coroner’s Office, the next of kin has been notified.
The driver of the Ford Taurus was also taken to the hospital and has since been released. This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
