MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened in Macon early Monday morning.
UPDATE 2/23/22: Investigators dropped the charges against Joey’s brother, Jeffery Fournier, based off information received during the interview.
UPDATE 2/22/22: Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators and members of the U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 50-year-old Joey Fournier in connection with the death investigation of 49-year-old Cynthia Berry. Joey Fournier’s brother, 46-year-old Jeffrey Fournier was also arrested for hindering apprehension. Cynthia Berry was found deceased, at her residence, due to strangulation. Further investigation revealed Joey Fournier was at the residence the night that the incident occurred. Fournier called for a ride and left the home.
On Tuesday, U.S. Marshals located Joey, with his brother,Jeffrey Scott Fournier, in Rome, Georgia. Both men were taken into custody without incident, and transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division to be interviewed. After being interviewed, both men were transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Joey Fournier is being held at the Bibb County L.E.C, without bond, for the charge of Murder. Jeffrey Scott Fournier is being held at the Bibb County L.E.C., without bond, for the charge of Hindering Apprehension.


The incident occurred at 309 Winchester Place at around 1:33 a.m. Bibb deputies found 49-year-old Cynthia Berry, of Macon dead inside of the home. No other information is available at this time.
