Macon mom faces multiple charges in child abandonment case

BIBB COUNTY, GA (KBTV) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a woman in connection with the reckless abandonment of a newborn.

Deputies responded to Piedmont Macon Emergency Room on March 31, 2025 after 22-year-old Alaynah Marie Rappuhn arrived with excessive bleeding. Investigators later discovered that she had given birth at home around 4:30 a.m., wrapped the infant in towels, and placed him in a trash bag on the back porch before seeking medical attention.

Her boyfriend, unaware of the birth, later found the baby alive in the bag upon returning home. The infant was rushed to the hospital and is currently in critical but stable condition.

Rappuhn was arrested on April 1, 2025 after her release from the hospital and charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Felony Murder, Reckless Abandonment of a Child, and First-Degree Cruelty to Children. She is being held without bond.
