MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – In the attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19 and end the pandemic, Medical Center Navicent Health will administer first doses of COVID-19 vaccine to the public. Starting Monday, January 18, 2021, first responders, healthcare workers, and people age 65 and older can get vaccinated.
This is the part of Phase 1A+ of Georgia’s priority distribution plan. The first COVID-19 vaccines were given to Navicent Health teammates on December 21 as their initial dosage. The second and final dosage to some healthcare workers began on January 11, 2021 to be fully vaccinated.
Currently, two vaccines are FDA-approved to prevent COVID-19, the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine and the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
Vaccination appointments are required due to the availability of the vaccine. Those who qualify may schedule an appointment by visiting www.CovidsafeGA.org or 478-633-SAFE (7233).
