NEW YORK (KBTV) – Hip hop rapper/ actor DMX has passed away. DMX, who’s birth name is Earl Simmons died on Friday surrounded by family.
DMX was on life support for several days following a heart attack. According to the associated press, he was rushed to a hospital in White Plains, New York on April 2, 2021, where he died.
The Grammy-nominated performer, who produced the songs “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” and “Party Up (Up in Here), built a multiplatinum career as one of rap’s biggest stars of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
In addition to his rap career, DMX struggled with drug addiction and legal problems that repeatedly put him behind bars. Besides the trouble he has been in, DMX also was a caring person who has helped the less fortunate many times.
DMX leaves behind his 15 children and his mother. He was 50 years old.
