Macon,Georgia (KBTV) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a traffic collision that left two person dead early Thursday morning.
The incident happened around 12:30am on Broadway at Houston Road. Deputies say a vehicle was traveling south on Broadway when it went through the grass median onto Houston Road and hit a Freightliner tractor trailer, while it was at a traffic light in the north bound lane. The tractor trailer hit a Chevy Impala that was beside it at the traffic light.
The first vehicle driver and passenger were unable to get out when the car caught on fire. They were pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was treated and released on scene. The driver of the Chevy Impala was taken to the Atrium Health Navicent and is listed in stable condition.
The family member of the victims have not been notified at this time. The traffic collision is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
