What’s Happening Weekend: Ga National Fair in Perry, ‘Stop the Killing’ rally aims to reduce gun violence, FVSU wins first home game

MIDDLE GEORGIA (KBTV) – Thousands of people enjoyed their weekend at the Georgia National Fair in Perry. This was the first weekend since the fair began on October 7, 2021. Fair goers enjoyed the food, rides, and excitement. Some people say they will return before the fair leaves, especially during Fall break while some students are out of school. The last day for the fair is October 17, 2021.

While there were some killings over the weekend in Macon-Bibb County, residents say they will not stop promoting change. Many participated in the ‘Stop the killing’ rally on Saturday on the corners of Mercer University Drive and Pio Nono Avenue. These rallies are held weekly hosted by Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones.

FVSU hosted their first official home game on Saturday against Central State University. Some students say what was more exciting is the school played their first home game on their newly renovated field. As many say they’re glad their team won, some say the new layout of the field was their good luck charm. FVSU beat CSU 35-14.
