What’s happening weekend: non profit organization teaches kids life skills, Georgia National Fair ends, FVSU alumni looks forward to homecoming

Georgia (KBTV) – Barbers on Duty, a non profit organization in Macon is shaping kids into great leaders. The organization hosts several events but the 2nd Annual Fall Camp took place October 11, 2021-October 15, 2021 at the Rosa Jackson Center. On the final day, campers participated in a neighborhood cleanup where they walked the streets and picked up trash. CEO, Daude Harrell says he hopes the kids understand they are the product of their environment. Mayor Lester Miller contributed supplies to help the kids clean up the community.

The Georgia National Fair in Perry ended Sunday, October 17, 2021. The gates opened at 10am and closed at 10pm. Fair goers were excited the fair came back this year. Due to the pandemic, the fair was canceled last year. Thousands of people attended the fair and enjoyed rides, food, and live entertainment.

Fort Valley State University kicked off homecoming on Sunday, October 17, 2021 with a gospel concert. Alumni and Fort Valley mayoral candidate, Lemario Brown says he looks forward to reuniting with his wildcat family throughout the week. Homecoming was canceled last year due to the pandemic.
