UPDATE: Final arrest made Macon’s teen murder

MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – A teen died in a Macon shooting Friday night.

UPDATE: 19-year-old Mia Simone Hawkins has been arrested in connection with the death of 18-year-old Montaveous Raines Jr. Hawkins is at the Bibb LEC charged with murder. She has no bond.

UPDATE 12/3/21: Two people have been charged for murder in connection with this incident. 18-year-old Jaylen Bryce Smith and 19-year-old Jordan Michael Mullis were interviewed by investigators about the incident. Investigation revealed the deceased, Raines, was fatally wounded when he and another individual met with the two suspects on Greentree Parkway. Smith and Mullis were taken into custody after the interview. They are both charged with murder. Mullis was also charged with the Purchase, Possession, Manufacture, Distribution, and Sale of Marijuana. Both Smith and Mullis are being held without bond at the Bibb LEC. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Violent Crimes Investigators, SWAT, Drug Unit, Gang Unit, H.E.A.T. Units, and members of the U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted in the arrests.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of 701 Greentree Parkway just after 8:00 p.m. Bibb deputies received a call of a person shot in the parking at 8:13pm. When they arrived on scene, they found 18-year-old Montaveous Raines Jr. unresponsive with gunshot wounds to his upper body. Raines was pronounced deceased by Deputy Coroner Luann Stone. No other details surrounding the shooting are available at this time.
