MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – A 62 year old man is in critical condition after he collided with a log truck Wednesday afternoon.
UPDATE: Melvin Butler passed away from injuries sustained from the accident. He was pronounced deceased on May 25, 2022, at 8:55 p.m. by the Atrium Health staff.
The incident happened just before 5:30 p.m. on Broadway at Mead Road. According to reports, a tractor trailer, empty log truck driven by a 36-year-old male of Lizella, was making a right turn off Mead Road onto Broadway. 62-year-old Melvin Butler on a bicycle was coming from the Food Mart at the corner of Antioch and Broadway and rode his bicycle into the rear tires of the trailer. Butler was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition.
