Executive Director of The Tubman Museum, Harold Young, says, “We’ve been hosting different movies screenings with the AMC so we are able to do the pre-screening.”

Aba Arthur, an actress in the film, joined movie goers and spoke with them about the film. Arthur says, “The movie was made in the midst of grief, but also with so much joy, so much passion. Everyone put 115% into it.”

Arthur plays a Wakandian naval engineer in the film and she opened up about bringing parts of her personality to the character. “ I always bring a piece of myself to my role. I think you kind of have to. That’s when the work really thrives.”

Aba Arthur is set to play Abena in the 2023 musical adaptation of The Color Purple.
