Early morning shooting leaves Macon man dead

MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – A man died at a local hospital after he had been shot early Thursday morning.

Bibb deputies responded to a person shot in the 2300 block of Lincoln Street just before 02:00 a.m. When they arrived on scene, they found 47-year-old Ishmael Hassan Saleem in a Saturn Aura unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was taken to Atrium Health Navicent for treatment where he was pronounced dead. This incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751 -7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
