MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – Dive teams searched for a man who possibly drowned Wednesday evening at Frank Amerson Park Ocmulgee River.
UPDATE 2/27/23: 22-year-old Jahvon Whitest’s body has been found. At around 11:24 a.m. Jahvon Whitest was recovered from the Ocmulgee River.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources responded to the incident just after 4:42p.m. Witnesses say 3 men came to the park for a swim.
The men swam against the current to an area where the rocks were visible above water. Two of the men made it to the rocks and noticed the third man was struggling against the current. The two men attempted to help the man but lost sight of him. 911 was called and Emergency Personnel arrived on scene to search for the man.
Dive teams searched for the man but was unsuccessful. They stopped the search around 7:30p.m. The search will continue Thursday morning. The names of the 3 men will not be released at this time.
