Macon man arrested in Dollar General burglary

MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in connection to a burglary at a local Dollar General.

The incident happened at the Dollar General located at 1444 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. Deputies say it was burglarized around 1:04am on Friday. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the business had been breached through the rear wall and boxes of cigarettes were on the floor. Surveillance video showed the suspect pushing two yellow shopping carts filled with several boxes of cigarettes, cleaning supplies, and cellphone accessories. The items added up to about $1000.

The suspect was spotted nearby with the carts and tried to hide in an abandoned car near Hanson and Simmons Street but was arrested and taken into custody. The suspect was identified as 42-year-old Christopher Tyrone Anthony.

Anthony is being charged with 1stDegree Burglary. According to investigators, Anthony is connected to several other commercial burglaries. Additional charges are pending.
