JONES COUNTY, Georgia (KBTV) – On May 18, one man lost his life to a friend.
The Jones County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 19-year-old De’Vante Ross after “accidentally” shooting his roommate, 25-year-old Zachery Morris .
Ross said they were playing with the firearm, not knowing it was loaded before Morris was shot.
Ross called deputies who arrived on the scene to aid Morris, who later died.
Investigators spoke to multiple people who knew the friends and found out this behavior was common between the two.
Ross has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and Reckless Conduct. He remains in custody.
The county urges anyone with possession of a firearm to treat every gun as if it is loaded.
