MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Macon man Thursday night.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to Eisenhower Parkway near Log Cabin Drive at about 10:39 p.m. after reports of a serious traffic collision.
When first responders arrived, they found three vehicles involved in the crash: a Ford Edge, a Mercedes-Benz GLE, and a Freightliner M2 truck.
Investigators say 38-year-old Victor Anthony Calhoun, the driver of the Ford Edge, died at the scene from his injuries. Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley pronounced Calhoun dead at the scene, and his family has been notified.
Authorities said a 17-year-old girl driving the Mercedes-Benz and a 66-year-old man driving the Freightliner were treated at the scene by paramedics. No other injuries were reported.
Based on preliminary findings, witnesses told investigators that the Ford Edge was traveling east on Eisenhower Parkway when it struck the rear of the Mercedes-Benz GLE just east of the Log Cabin Drive intersection. After the impact, the Ford crossed into the westbound lanes, where it was hit head-on by the Freightliner truck.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Anyone who may have information about the collision is asked to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 and request to speak with a Fatality Investigator.
