Wellness Wednesday: Medical expert talks water safety during summer vacations

MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – As families head out for summer vacations and spend more time around pools, lakes, and beaches, water safety becomes an important topic for parents and caregivers.

According to the Macon-Bibb Coroner’s Office, there were 5 drownings in 2025. Two of those drownings were at Lake Tobesofkee and the other 3 happened at Amerson Park in Macon.

KBTV’s Dr. Karlisha Booze spoke with Justin Connelly who is a nurse practitioner at Piedmont Macon about ways parents can keep their kids safe while around water.
