MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Piedmont Macon is making it easier for women to prioritize breast health with additional mammogram appointments on Saturdays.
Beginning this month and continuing through the end of the year, Piedmont Macon will offer Saturday mammograms, providing an option for women who may have difficulty scheduling a screening during the workweek.

The expanded availability was one of the highlights of this month’s Wellness Wednesday interview. KBTV’s Dr. Karlisha Booze spoke with Kimberly Lewis, manager of Oncology Services at Piedmont Macon, about breast cancer awareness, risk factors, screening and the services available to patients.
Lewis also discussed the importance of women being proactive about their breast health and knowing what screening options are available to them.
The Saturday mammogram appointments are designed to provide added flexibility for women who work Monday through Friday or have other commitments that make weekday appointments difficult.
During the interview, Lewis also explains the breast cancer services available at Piedmont Macon Medical Center and Piedmont Macon North Hospital.
