MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning shooting that left one person dead in Macon.
UPDATE: The deceased has been identified as 39-year-old Antonio Mason. 36-Michael Jerome Maxwell has been charged for Mason’s murder. Investigators contacted Maxwell’s family and told them that he’s wanted for questioning. Maxwell turned himself and was interviewed. After the interview, he was taken to the Bibb County LEC where he has no bond.
The shooting happened in the 1800 block of Woodliff Street shortly before 1am. Bibb deputies responded to the 911 call of a person shot and taken to the hospital by ambulance. He died at the hospital. The deceased name will not be released until family is notified.
