MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened Wednesday night in Macon.
UPDATE: Further investigation led to an arrest. 20-years-old Braylon Alexander Jones was arrested at at a residence in the 4100 Block of Arkwright Road. Jones is a the Bibb LEC and is charged with murder.
The shooting happened around 8:30pm at Shadowood West Apartments located at 4344 West Highland Drive. Bibb deputies were responding to a call of a person shot. Upon arrival, they found 30-year-old Cyrus Norwood inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene. According to Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones, Norwood died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Bibb deputies say a person was seen running from the scene into the wooded area located behind the apartment complex. Georgia State Patrol helicopter is assisting with a search of the area. This investigation is ongoing.
