MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – A 29 year old man is behind bars facing an aggravated assault charge for allegedly shooting an off duty Bibb County Sheriff’s deputy Friday night.
The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at around 10:42p.m. The call included details that a deputy had been shot and then drove himself to the Sprint Food store that is located on Rocky Creek Road at Bloomfield Drive.
A description of the suspect, 29-year-old Nigel Hondo Clowers, and the vehicle that he was driving was given and deputies were able to locate the vehicle nearby. Clowers led deputies on a pursuit through several streets in the Bloomfield area. He lost control of his vehicle, hit an embankment, collided with a parked vehicle, and then drove into a home that is located on Ohara Drive North. No one was injured inside of the home and Clowers was checked out by paramedics then taken into custody. The off-duty deputy was transported by ambulance to the hospital and is currently listed to be in stable condition. The name of the deputy will not be released at this time.
Clowers is at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center where he is being held, without bond, for the charge of Aggravated Assault. Additional charges are also pending.
