MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – A man died after he lost control of his vehicle during a vehicle pursuit with The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident happened early Wednesday morning around 12:46 AM. near the intersection of Log Cabin Drive and Mercer University Drive. A patrol deputy was observing traffic when he noticed a driver made a right turn at a red light that states no right on red. The deputy tried to pull the car over but the driver refused to stop and led the deputy on a brief vehicle pursuit through Summer Hill Drive and then back onto Log Cabin at the intersection of Log Cabin and Mercer University. The driver, 26-year-old Rashaad Jones, lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle flipped in the air then overturned and struck a tree. Jones was pronounced deceased on scene. No one else was in the car.
Georgia State Patrol is investigating this accident.
