Houston County school district awards over $40,000 in scholarships

HOUSTON COUNTY, Georgia (KBTV) – The Houston Association of Educational Office Professionals awarded nearly 50 scholarships to students at Houston County High School, Northside High School, Perry High School, and other schools in the county.

The program gave a total of $45,000 to recipients based on their grade point averages, applications, and recommendation letters from their teachers.

These students are graduates of their 2023 class in Houston County. Many of them, hoping to pursue a degree in nursing from institutions like University of Georgia and Fort Valley State University.

More than 5 scholar recipients will attend HBCUs like Xavier University, Savannah State University, AAMU, and FVSU.

Funds for the scholarships are accumulated through fundraising events throughout the year.
