Macon shooting leaves man dead; brother charged with murder

MACON, Georgia (KBTV) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Saturday night.

UPDATE: 46 year old Roderick Thomas has been taken to the Bibb County LEC and charged with murder.

According to authorities, deputies were dispatched to the 4700 block of High Oak Drive just before 9:00 p.m. after a call came into the Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center.

When deputies arrived, they found 52-year-old Robert Thomas inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute between brothers, Robert Thomas and 46-year-old Roderick Thomas.

Robert Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley. An autopsy is pending.

Roderick Thomas was taken to the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigation Division for questioning as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case remains under investigation.
